Tucson Community Food Bank
The Community Food Bank opened in 1976 and presently distributes enough food to prepare 32,793 meals every day of the year. Perishable food is saved from waste from restaurants, learning institutions, resorts, and grocery stores; other food is donated through food drives, from farmers, produce brokers, the United States Department of Agriculture, and corporations. This food is distributed to children, families, and individuals in Pima County through over 380 community-based agencies and organizations. La Encantada employees volunteer their time at the Tucson Community Food Bank every month and La Encantada runs a food drive every Holiday Season. For details on how you can contribute, please visit www.communityfoodbank.com.
Hundreds of requests are anticipated each year. Donation recipients may include civil organizations' education programs; food banks; foundations; hospitals and health care organizations; youth programs; performing arts and museums and many more. Each request is reviewed carefully, however, not all requests can be granted.
