La Encantada is proud to be a community partner. We strive to meet
community challenges through a combination of employee volunteerism,
financial support, in-kind donations and partnerships with non-profit
organizations which have missions consistent with our vision and
values. We have established long-term affiliations with a variety of
prominent organizations such as the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.

Tucson Community Food Bank
The Community Food Bank opened in 1976 and presently distributes enough
food to prepare 32,793 meals every day of the year. Perishable food is
saved from waste from restaurants, learning institutions, resorts, and
grocery stores; other food is donated through food drives, from
farmers, produce brokers, the United States Department of Agriculture,
and corporations. This food is distributed to children, families, and
individuals in Pima County through over 380 community-based agencies
and organizations. La Encantada Westcor employees volunteer their time
at the Tucson Community Food Bank every month. For details on how you
can contribute, please contact Kristen Hershberger, Volunteer
Coordinator, 520-622-0525 ext. 204 or visit www.communityfoodbank.com
Angel Courtyard at La Encantada "Paver Program"
This program is not only a wonderful way to be part of a new community
landmark, but the funds will be used to help Angel Charity for
Children, Inc. increase its services to children's causes throughout
Pima County. Founded in 1983, Angel Charity for Children, Inc. is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for
children in the community. This is accomplished through an established
program of fundraising for beneficiaries selected annually by general
membership. The Endowment Fund will be used to provide additional
support for children's causes that desperately need it. For more
information about the Angel Charity for Children Inc. Endowment Fund,
please visit angelcharity.org or call 520-326-3686.

Parseghian Foundation Wishing Well
La Encantada is also proud to sponsor the Ara Parseghian Medical
Research Foundation. The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation is
a grassroots, charitable organization based in Tucson with the goal of
finding a treatment and cure for Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C). This
genetic disease interferes with a child's ability to metabolize
cholesterol. It's progressive, degenerative and always…until a cure
is found...fatal. The Tucson community has rallied around the
Parseghian family who in 1994 received the diagnosis that three of
their four children had NP-C. More than $22 million dollars have been
raised and 20 top labs around the world, including two at the
University of Arizona, are racing toward a cure. Sadly, the three
Parseghian children have died as a result of complications of the
disease. The resolve of the Parseghian family and Foundation, as well
as the Tucson community, is as strong as ever to keep the battle waging
so that other families living with NP-C will not have to experience
what the Parseghians have. Inspired by the millions of coins collected
by Catalina Foothills school children over the past nine years to
benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, La Encantada
has designed a permanent Wishing Well at the new shopping center to
help carry on this wonderful tradition.
La Encantada has designated the Ara Parseghian Medical Research
Foundation as one of its designated charities through its community
partnership program. La Encantada patrons are encouraged to make a wish
by tossing coins into the well, designed by Dino Alfaro of Antigua de
Mexico, and support the mission of the Foundation.
Stores can participate in this worthy cause by displaying countercards
directing customers to the center's wishing well or placing collection
containers for coins in the store.
